The Benefits of Natural Stone Tiles and a Case for Marble Tiles

Stone buildings are a part of our heritage. We associate them with castles, churches and mansions. Some of the prime attractions of the city center are the limestone statues of famous people. Stone is quite a popular material for use in the home and commercial buildings as well as historical buildings. Primarily, because of its durability and ease of maintenance.

Natural stone tiles are quite popular in the home and historic buildings for the same reason as the use of stone in construction. Stone floors are popular for their resilience and durability. Once a stone floor is polished it lasts for years and you only have to polish or buff it up once a year to maintain its shine. They are the easiest to clean as well. However, they have their disadvantages. Marble tiles need to be installed by a professional. Additionally, stone is a very heavy material and so you need to carefully consider whether you should install it on floors other than the ground floors. Plus, people get injured more severely on natural stone tiles as compared to other floors because stone has the property of rigidity. Additionally, stone floors, lack ‘give’ which makes it harder to walk on and injuries are more severe as compared to other floors.

How a marble tile is treated will depend on where it is being installed and how it is going to be used. Marble tiles offer a uniqueness in terms of designs and colours. If a marble floor begins to lose its shine, you can add a bit of wax to it. However, wax should be avoided on white floors as it gives it an unattractive  yellowish tinge. Moreover, the variety of marble tiles available come in a broad range of prices. You are bound to find something attractive to suit your taste and budget.
